Your wife feels isolated and lonely and she is struggling with body image issues and low self-esteem. She needs you to be there for her. She needs to know that you can take on the hard jobs and are willing to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty – so to speak. So, yeah, changing the baby’s diapers can actually lead to an increase in your love-life activity. Remember when she first became pregnant, how neglected you felt? It is even more-so with a newborn. So, be willing to carry that baby bag. Get involved if you want love. You don’t even have to give up your masculine self-image to help – there are plenty of companies out there now making diaper bags just for men. Because more men have found out what you are just now realizing.

Help Plan for the New Baby

Please don’t be anxious about changing the diaper. Diapering is the easiest part of it. People in the hospital will help you – the nurses and other staff. Just ask for help. There are lots of resources on the web, too. Videos, checklists. Start reading, start preparing. Become an expert. Get involved by getting stuff together and helping to plan the things that baby will need. You will need a changing table, and wipes, a good supply of diapers. Get lots of hand sanitizer as well. You will need really clean hands to feed (starting with bottle feeding? get a supply of the 4 ouncers). And you are going to want clean hands after you change a diaper. Hey – I’m just the messenger – those “code browns” get get nasty if you aren’t ready for them. Get some nice things for your lady too – help take the stress off.

Pampering your partner (we aren’t talking about diapers here) – Indulging and spoiling her.

Getting her a cute little teddy would be fun for YOU, but that’s not what she is looking for now. Go get her some stuff that will relax HER. Bubble baths and shampoos and nice smelly lotions. Nail painting stuff. Hair and makeup type stuff. Remember the things she used to do to pamper herself before the pregnancy? Men need to know that for women, clothes shoes and makeup are investments they make in their happiness. When she sees that you are making an effort to help make her happy, this will help warm things up in the bedroom.
